To promote future thinkers, lifelong learners, and productive world citizens, the Pikes Peak Elementary community advances student achievement by addressing Multiple Intelligences and individual needs.
Our Purpose
Pikes Peak Elementary School is located in the Pikes Peak Park Development of Colorado Springs. Our mission is to ensure that all students make adequate yearly progress (AYP) toward the goal that all students know and are able to do grade-level work in reading, math, writing and science.
In addition to the academic curriculum, the school strives to ensure that all students are safe, have respect for themselves and each other, appreciate individual differences and are able to achieve their full potential by being actively involved in their own learning.
Throughout the school year, Pikes Peak utilizes the school action plan as a means to focus efforts toward improving student achievement. While there is still work to be done on raising student achievement, Pikes Peak students have made great gains in academic growth according to the Longitudinal Student Growth Model measurement used by the Colorado Department of Education.
Our Educators
The Pikes Peak staff is a committed group of educators who continually study the best instructional practices and go above and beyond to meet students' needs. Classroom teachers and administrators meet on a monthly basis to align curriculum, review student achievement data, make improvements and give feedback on the progress of various educational programs. Pikes Peak values high quality teachers, and offers many opportunities for professional development to all staff members.
Pikes Peak's highly qualified educational staff uses Write Tools for effective writing, McMillan/McGraw-Hill "Treasures" Curriculum for reading and Envisions Curriculum for math.

Shannon Wellbaum Receives Education Grant
Shannon Wellbaum, kindergarten teacher at Pikes Peak, received a $150 mini-grant to buy reading and math kits for her kindergarten class from the Professional Association of Colorado Educators (PACE). Ms. Wellbaum is confident that the math and literacy manipulatives are the needed materials that will provide her students with the opportunity to learn and advance as a kindergarten student.
“Math and literacy manipulatives are proven ways of developing essential skills and will allow my students to work independently with success,” said Ms. Wellbaum.
Congratuations to Ms. Wellbaum!
